ABOUT

Hey there!

tl;dr: I’m Melissa – the purpose of this site is to bring authenticity, snark, and community to those who may not always feel seen. Welcome 🙂

The long version…

I’m Melissa – an elder millennial girl mom who loves her family, tolerates work, survives on Diet Coke and cuss words, and wants to travel more, but also doesn’t always like to leave the house. I am a Washington State native, and other than a short stint in Eastern Washington for college, have always lived in the South Puget Sound area and within an hour of my immediate family. I’m a former competitive dancer, high school cheerleader and then cheer coach, and now can’t walk up the stairs without feeling like my body is going to break in half. I may also be a little bit on the dramatic side… and a bit of a walking contradiction, depending on the day.

When I started this site back in 2020, I was going to try and write a blog. HA! Five years later and there are a handful of things on the page.

Over the last two years, I’ve found a great community among crafters and fiber artists in our area. I’ve always been crafty, but have never really felt creative or much like an artist because it’s hard for me to come up with things that I think are unique and exciting. (Doesn’t help that my husband and two daughters are so creative and talented… but I have the best handwriting, so THERE.) I’ve since learned how to crochet, knit, and gotten back into embroidery and cross-stitching. I have multiple sewing machines that haven’t been used in six or so years. I have multiple tools to make many different things… and combined with the tools my maker husband has, I think we have at least a dozen machines that can help create pretty much anything, as long as the size isn’t too big.

My goal for this site is to be somewhere for me to have a creative outlet, and share in community with others who have experiences similar to mine. I want to be authentic and genuine, which, given my neurospicy brain, is often snarky and then overly emotional. I want to feel seen and make others feel seen, without worrying about what people think of me or the ideas I come up with.

So… if you read this far, you probably vibed with at least something I wrote up there, which is awesome. You may just be reading for entertainment or internet sleuthing about me cause you don’t like me, which is also awesome. Either way – you do you, boo.
